First half of the 4th century CE; some literature narrows this to c. 330-340 CE - Colorless blown or cast glass, cold-cut and ground into a free-standing openwork network (the cage) of dark purple-red, gold-yellow and emerald-green glass, joined to the inner cup by short colorless struts
