How to send one

Write to [email protected] with the record or article, what is wrong, and the source if you have it. We will reply.

How we handle them

A correction to a record is made in the record itself and noted in its change log with the date. We do not quietly overwrite. The last-verified date is reset when a record is re-checked.

Corrections made

Image licence credits, 4 August 2026. 112 of 409 plates were credited "Public domain" where the file's actual licence was CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA. The merge step had been asserting a licence it never read. Corrected across the corpus; the licence is now written only by the step that reads it.

Lead-plate notes, 4 August 2026. 40 of 41 published records carried an automatic note reading "Verified as this object. Public domain." above a link to the Wikimedia Commons home page rather than to the file. The note was false on 14 of them. Corrected; the lead plate is now built from the file's own record.

Unattributed plates, 4 August 2026. Three plates licensed CC BY went live without naming the photographer, which is a breach of the licence and not a matter of manners. Corrected; the photographer is now printed on every attribution-licensed plate including the lead, and a plate whose author cannot be established is refused rather than published bare.

The evidence gate, 13 August 2026. This site published a description of a bar that no code enforced, and which measured the standfirst rather than the researched prose - so 103 of 111 records "failed" a rule they passed many times over. The gate is now executed in code with a self-test, the description above matches what it does, and the chain-length arm was withdrawn for the reason given there.

Imprint, 13 August 2026. The field naming who is responsible for editorial content read "the editorial desk", which is not a person. It now names the Editor-in-Chief, alongside the publisher's representation and register details.
