Who we are

This site, iconotheca.com, is operated by Servola Systems GmbH, Adolf-Diesterweg-Strasse 31, 67071 Ludwigshafen, Germany ("we"). We take the protection of your personal data seriously and process it only in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable law.

What we collect

Newsletter: if you subscribe we store the email address you provide, in order to send you the newsletter. Contact: if you write to us we receive your name, email address and message so we can reply. Server logs: our hosting provider records standard technical data such as IP address, browser and time of access, for security and to operate the site.

Why we process it and the legal basis

We process your email to deliver a newsletter you asked for (your consent, Article 6(1)(a) GDPR) and your contact details to answer your enquiry and for our legitimate interest in running the title (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Server logs are processed for the legitimate interest of a secure, functioning website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Named individuals in our records

Our records describe the ownership history of works of art and may name people who owned, sold or bought them, including living people, where that fact is already documented in a public source such as a museum record, an auction catalogue or a court judgment. We publish such a name only where it is supported by a cited public source and is relevant to the ownership history. If you are named and believe an entry is inaccurate or should not be published, write to [email protected]; we will review it, and correct or remove it where you are right.

Cookies and tracking

We do not set advertising or profiling cookies. Any cookie we do set is strictly necessary to operate the site.

Sharing and hosting

The site is hosted in the EU. We do not sell personal data. Processors act only on our instructions under a data processing agreement.

How long we keep it

Newsletter data until you unsubscribe. Correspondence for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and to meet statutory retention periods. Server logs for a short technical period.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time with future effect. Write to [email protected]. You may also complain to a supervisory authority.
