Resilient Threads: Embroidery Samplers from 19th-Century Mexico

19th-century embroidery samplers made by girls in Oaxaca, Puebla and Jalisco, blending European stitch techniques with Aztec-derived imagery. Pieces were gifted to Emperor Maximilian I, displayed at Chapultepec, then entered the Allen's collection.
